Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary Dedicated to First-Class Care Play a part in the rehabilitation, preservation, and conservation of koalas in the wild. Whether you visit for an hour or stay overnight, immerse yourself in the serene natural habitat of the world-class Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary. Established through a partnership between Port Stephens Council and Port Stephens Koala Hospital, the sanctuary provides exceptional care for sick, injured, and orphaned koalas. Open daily, it offers a rare opportunity to observe these iconic animals in their natural environment.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR A VISIT: A visit to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary entails a round trip walk of about 1km in length. All pathways and elevated viewing platforms are easily accessible designed for all ages and abilities. Some limited bench seating is provided along the Sanctuary Story Walk and SKYwalk. We recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen for sun protection and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.

Child policy: Children aged 4-13, infants under 3 years old are free.
Opening hours: 9am – 5pm every day (last entry at 4pm) (except Christmas) Winter months close at 4.00pm (last entry at 3pm).
